新しく墨壺を彫りました。以前中村外二工務店の大工さんに見せてもらったことのある、網代彫に憧れていつか作ってみたいなと思っていました。イスカ型の二分鑿を左右作るところから必要で、網代の掘り込みにはそこそこ時間がかかりました。ようやく漆をかけたので糸を通し、カルコをとりつけました。この墨壺は白壺となる予定です。
I have just finished carving a new sumitsubo (ink pot). Ever since I saw one carved with an ajiro (wickerwork) pattern by a carpenter from Nakamura Sotoji Komuten, I’ve dreamed of making one myself someday.
The process began with making the tools: I had to forge a pair of left- and right-handed isuka-gata (crossbill) 6mm chisels specifically for the task. Carving the intricate ajiro pattern took a significant amount of time and patience. Now that the lacquer has finally dried, I’ve wound the line and attached the karuko (pin). I plan to use this strictly as a shiro-tsubo (white-ink pot) for clean layout work.
