蟻害や湿気の吸い上げによる木材の劣化は大抵脚元からやってきます。
メンテナンス不足や工法にマッチしてないリフォームにより、大きく修繕が必要なケースもあります。
「根継ぎ」という技法で柱を健康な部材で繋ぎ直した後、「足固め」と言われる水平部材で柱脚を繋いでいきます。

Lack of maintenance or renovations that do not match the construction method can lead to major repairs.
After reconnecting the pillars with healthy materials using a technique called "root joining," the column bases are connected with horizontal members called "ashigatame."
