のね板
数寄屋建築等で用いられる杉の板を打ち割って作る厚さ6mmほどの板です。
近年では職人さんもいなくなりつつあるそうで、京都の材料屋さんからも在庫が無くなってきているようです。
そこで、
自分たちで作ることにしてみました。
ところがなかなかうまく割れない🥲
7割近くがゴミになります。
機械の無い時代、打ち割ると言う作業は人力主体の作業倫理においてとても効率的な方法だったように思えます。
皮肉にもその割り肌がなんとも美しい。
機械化に伴い、平面精度としての美しさを容易に具現化することができるようになりましたが、確かに失った物も大きいようです。
江戸時代の哲学者、三浦梅園がこんな言葉を残しています。
「枯れ木に花咲くに驚くより 、生木に花咲くに驚け」
物珍しく新しいものに心奪われることは人間の心理として当然ですが、そこに今あるもの、事、がいかに有り難く尊いものであると言う事を簡単に忘れてしまいます。

In recent years, there are fewer and fewer craftsmen, and materials stores in Kyoto are running out of stock.
So,
we decided to make it ourselves.
However, it's not easy to split it properly 🥲
Nearly 70% of it ends up as waste.
In an era without machines, splitting seems to have been a very efficient method in terms of manual work ethics.
Ironically, the split surface is incredibly beautiful.
With mechanization, it has become easier to embody beauty in terms of flatness, but it seems that we have certainly lost a lot.
Miura Baien, a philosopher from the Edo period, left us with these words.
"Be more amazed at flowers blooming on living trees than at flowers blooming on dead trees."
It is natural for humans to be captivated by strange and new things, but we easily forget how precious and precious the things and things that are there now are.
